    Five Ways to Strengthen Your Problem-Solving Skills

    Problem-solving is a key part of a PSW’s day-to-day work — whether they’re managing unexpected client needs, navigating unclear instructions, or adapting to changing situations. In this one-hour session, participants will learn five practical ways to improve their problem-solving skills, including how to identify the real issue, explore root causes, think creatively, and choose the best solution. Participants will walk away with strategies to apply immediately on the job.

    Depression, Dementia and Delirium – Identifying the Differences 

    Depression, dementia and delirium can share similar signs – but also have key differences. These conditions may also coexist, making it important for PSWs to recognize what a client may be experiencing. 

    This session outlines common indicators of each condition and highlights the importance of communicating observations with the care team.

    Four Steps to Building Trust with Clients Experiencing Mental Health Issues

    Strong therapeutic relationships are the foundation of effective care but can be more challenging to establish when clients are experiencing mental health issues.

    This session introduces four practical steps PSWs can use to build rapport, establish trust, and create positive working relationships with clients who have mental health conditions. Participants will learn specific techniques for connecting with clients while respecting their unique needs and experiences.

    In The Last Hours: Recognizing End-of-Life Signs

    While no one can predict a specific time a client might pass, there are signs that a client may be in the last days of their life.

    This session helps PSWs recognize these end-of-life indicators and understand how to provide appropriate comfort and support. Participants will learn what to observe and how to communicate with families during this sensitive time.

    Showing Up Strong: Professionalism in Everyday PSW Work

    How PSWs present themselves matters. This one-hour session explores what professional presence looks like in home and community care – including communication, body language, boundaries, and reliability. Staff will learn how small actions can build trust, strengthen client relationships, and reflect your commitment to quality care.

    Understanding and Responding to Disrobing or Romantic Overtures 

    Loss of inhibition may occur in many clients with dementia.  This session helps PSWs understand the underlying causes of these behaviors and develop professional, dignified responses. Participants will learn practical strategies for redirecting behaviors and when to seek additional support.
