      interRAI CHA Coding Refresher Workshop

    This one-day workshop will enable assessors to brush up on their coding skills, with special attention to those sections of the CHA that assessors find the most challenging.

    During this interactive session, assessors will:

    • review the general principles of conducting a competent interRAI assessment
    • improve their ability to accurately document client information for the most challenging sections of the interRAI CHA Core and Functional Supplement (emphasis on the ADL and IADL sections).
    • participate in active learning exercises through the use of a case study
    • learn upcoming changes to the interRAI CHA
    • have an opportunity to have their questions addressed through dedicated time for Q & A .

    Pre-requisite: previous training in interRAI CHA coding is required.


    Note About Materials: The interRAI CHA coding manual is not included in the registration fee. We have manuals that participants may borrow during the workshop, or participants may bring their organization’s manual. If participants are bringing their own, they must bring a copy of both an interRAI CHA manual (Canadian version) and the Clinical Assessment Protocol manual for Community and Long-term Care Assessment Instruments.  Alternatively, participants may purchase a manual from the interRAI catalogue

    Cancellation Policy:

    If you register and are unable to attend, you are welcome to substitute someone else from your organization at any time.  Capacity Builders will refund fees, less a $35 administration charge, if we receive your cancellation in writing up to ten (10) business days prior to the date of the workshop. Cancellations received after that time are non-refundable. If the workshop is cancelled by Capacity Builders, the full workshop fee will be refunded.

    interRAI CHA Educators: Updates to the interRAI CHA Assessment System

    This one day interactive workshop is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills needed to support staff in adapting to the upcoming changes to the interRAI CHA. The changes are scheduled to be rolled out in the Spring of 2018 in concert with the roll out of the interRAI HC instrument in home care. The workshop content will include changes to the interRAI CHA questions, Clinical Assessment Protocols and scales, as well as include a detailed overview of the scales/ outcome measures new to interRAI CHA users in Ontario. Educational materials will be provided and may be used to update organizational programs of interRAI CHA education.

    In a supportive and engaging environment, participants will learn how to:

    1. teach staff  about the changes to the interRAI CHA assessment systems

    2. develop educational materials which support the adoption of the changes

    3. support staff in the meaningful use of the  new scales and outcome measures

    interRAI Community Health Assessment Workshop

    This comprehensive three-day workshop will equip new assessors with the skills and confidence they need to conduct quality interRAI CHA assessments, and use the information to inform and evaluate personalized care plans. In a supportive and engaging environment, participants will:

    • learn the general principles of conducting a competent interRAI assessment
    • learn how to accurately document client information through the interRAI Community Health Asessment (interRAI CHA) system.
    • familiarize themselves with the interRAI CHA and Clinical Assessment Protocol manuals           
    • learn how to use the Clinical Assessment Protocols (CAPS) to inform the development of client - centred care plans
    • learn how to use the interRAI CHA scales to evaluate the effectiveness of care plans in addressing client needs
    • learn upcoming changes to the interRAI CHA

    Participants will have ample opportunity to have their questions addressed.

    Participants will simulate the assessment process in the classroom through the use of a case study. A certificate will be awarded upon the successful completion of the three-day workshop.

    Who Should Attend:
    This session is appropriate for individuals responsible for performing client assessments and creating client care plans. No prior experience with the CHA assessment is required.
